Lot 191:
A Set of William Hocker British Indian Army Bullock-Drawn Siege Gun and Infantry Figures
Description
This set of hand-painted hollowcast metal military figures is produced by William Hocker in the traditional style of early 20th-century toy soldiers. The collection depicts a British Indian Army unit and includes a large 40-pounder siege gun on a two-wheeled carriage, a matching two-wheeled limber carrying a brown barrel, and a pair of white bullocks with a driver figure in a red tunic and turban seated on the lead animal. The group is accompanied by infantry soldiers dressed in khaki uniforms and pith helmets, carrying rifles and standing on rectangular green bases. The figures feature a high-gloss finish throughout. A white adhesive label with the handwritten number 9703 is present on the flank of one bullock.
