A Pair of R. Taylor (British, 20th Century) Watercolours, Swallow and Capercaillie
Description
A pair of ornithological studies executed in watercolour with gouache highlights on paper by the artist R. Taylor. One work depicts a swallow in flight against a pale background with foliage, and the other shows a capercaillie in a display pose amongst grass and rock. Both pieces are rendered in a detailed natural history illustration style. Each painting is signed R. TAYLOR in the upper right corner and features the species name SWALLOW or CAPERCAILLIE in the lower right corner. The works are housed in matching dark wood frames with green mounts and gilded inner fillets. A yellow tape measure is present in the image for scale.
