Ever Ready Sky Queen Portable Valve Radio
Description
An Ever Ready Sky Queen portable valve radio, produced by the Ever Ready Co. (GB) Ltd. in London, circa 1953. The unit is housed in a wooden cabinet with rounded corners, finished in a golden-brown textured faux-reptile skin Rexine covering. It features a clear Perspex carrying handle and a vertical control panel on the left side with three cream-coloured plastic knobs for volume, waveband selection, and tuning. To the right is a circular speaker aperture covered by a brass-toned metal mesh grille with a decorative metal clasp on the left edge. This model was designed as a battery-powered portable radio operating on Medium Wave and Long Wave bands. A small white inventory sticker marked 501 is affixed to the upper left of the front face.
