Description

A collection of vintage gramophone and long-playing (LP) records, primarily dating from the mid-20th century. The lot includes a 10-inch LP titled Cornemuse d’Écosse (Bagpipes of Scotland) by Seumas MacNeill, released on the Vogue label, featuring a pink and white plaid card sleeve with a central monochrome photograph of a castle. Also present are several Broadcast long-playing records in their original brown paper sleeves, manufactured by the Vocation Gramophone Co. Ltd. in Hayes, Middlesex. These sleeves bear text indicating the use of the Marconi Co’s process of electrical recording and an original price of 1/3 each. The collection further contains various classical and miscellaneous LPs, including a recording conducted by Ernest Bour and items bearing the circular logo of the World Record Club. The records are housed in a mix of card and paper sleeves.
