Description

Two portable reel-to-reel tape recorders of United Kingdom origin. The first unit is a Musicmaster model featuring a Birmingham Sound Reproducers (BSR) tape deck identified by a circular mark. It is housed in a wood-framed portable case finished in a light-coloured textured rexine with a red and white polka-dot fabric lining to the interior lid. The deck includes two white plastic rotary control knobs, a vertical function selector, and is loaded with reels, one bearing an EMITAPE label. The second unit is a suitcase-style portable recorder with a grey hammered-effect metal control plate. It features a three-armed transport selector and a large grey rotary knob for volume and power. Control labels include Fast Forward, Play, Fast Reverse, Record, and Volume. Both units are of mid-20th century manufacture and likely contain internal vacuum tube components.
