Lot 192:
A Victorian pine two over two chest of drawers
Description
A nineteenth-century Victorian pine chest of drawers in the British provincial style. The carcass is constructed from pine with visible knots and a light natural-toned finish. The drawer configuration consists of two short drawers over two full-width graduated drawers, all featuring cockbeaded edges. The piece is set on a shaped apron with integrated bracket feet. The drawers are fitted with brass swan-neck handles on circular backplates and include inset keyholes. The secondary wood for the drawer linings is likely pine or deal, consistent with provincial construction of the period. Drawer construction, such as dovetailing, is not visible as the drawers are closed. No maker marks or labels are present.
