Lot 161:
A 20th Century Brutalist style welded iron sculpture
Description
A 20th-century metal sculpture or architectural element executed in the Brutalist style. The piece is constructed from ferrous metal, likely iron or steel, featuring a central semi-circular arch from which five long, tapered spikes radiate in a fan-like configuration. The assembly is mounted onto a flat, rectangular metal base plate. The fabrication utilizes welded joints with intentionally prominent and rough weld beads, characteristic of industrial modernism. The spikes appear to have been forged or ground to their points. No maker’s marks, signatures, or foundry stamps are present on the object. Small adhesive inventory labels are visible on the arch and base.
Width: approximately 45-50 cm; Height: approximately 28-30 cm.
