An 18th Century Dutch Delft Tin-Glazed Earthenware Peacock Pattern Charger
Description
An 18th-century Dutch Delft tin-glazed earthenware charger decorated in the traditional Peacock or Paauw pattern. The circular form features a deep central well hand-painted in blue underglaze with a stylized motif of peacock feathers and fruit. This central design is surrounded by a wide rim decorated with alternating panels containing floral sprays and blue washes. The outer edge of the rim is finished with a characteristic ochre-tinted glaze. The reverse of the charger displays an unidentified blue underglaze mark consisting of a V-shaped character positioned above two dots and two horizontal strokes. The item is currently held in a metal wire spring plate hanger.
