A Replica British Army Grenadier Style Ceremonial Bearskin Cap
Description
A replica ceremonial headdress constructed in the style of an 18th or early 19th-century British Army grenadier cap. The item features a tall crown of black fur mounted upon a black patent leather body. The front is dominated by a large, ornate gilt-metal cap plate embossed with the British Royal Coat of Arms, featuring the lion and unicorn supporters flanking a quartered shield. The Latin motto NEC ASPERA TERRENT is embossed in an arch across the top border of the plate, while the Royal motto DIEU ET MON DROIT appears on a scroll at the base. The cap is adorned with cream-coloured braided cords that terminate in two large tassels at the rear. This piece is a modern replica intended for display or historical re-enactment purposes.
