Alberto Vargas (1896-1982), Smoke Dreams, Framed Colour Print
Description
A framed colour print after the original 1927 illustration titled Smoke Dreams by Alberto Vargas. The work is a classic example of early 20th-century American pin-up art, depicting a female figure in a ruffled cream chemise, dark stockings, and black T-strap heels, posed in a crouching position. The print includes printed text to the right of the figure reading Smoke Dreams, 1927 and 22 inch x 26 inch. The piece is housed in an off-white mount and a modern black composite frame featuring a silver-toned inner bevel. A small white sticker with the handwritten digits 3676 is located on the upper right corner of the mount, and a small square white adhesive label is applied directly to the surface of the print near the figure’s midsection.
