Lot 448:
Mid-20th Century Domestic Ephemera and Textile Collection, including Disneyana and Sewing Notions, circa 1940-1960
Description
This lot comprises a diverse assortment of mid-20th-century paper ephemera and vintage textiles, primarily focused on domestic crafts and popular culture. A highlight of the collection is a vintage cardstock envelope for Donald Duck Transfers, featuring a classic colour illustration of the character, produced by Walt Disney Productions circa 1940s-1950s. Also included is a circular French sewing notion label for Multiray 6114, displaying a mid-century photographic portrait of a woman and the text Qualité France. The textile portion features a sentimental pink embroidered panel or handkerchief with a floral motif and the hand-stitched inscription TO MY DEAR MOTHER. The remainder of the lot consists of various vintage fabric remnants, embroidered cloths, and miscellaneous paper items typical of a mid-century sewing basket. These items reflect the domestic hobby culture and character merchandising of the post-war era.
Condition report:
The items are in varied, used condition commensurate with their age. The paper ephemera, including the Disney packaging and the French label, shows typical age-related toning, some corner bumping, and light creasing. The Disney envelope has been stored in a protective sleeve but shows previous edge wear. The textiles exhibit expected fold lines, minor fraying to the edges, and occasional light foxing or surface staining. The collection is sold as a single lot, as-is, with no detailed inspection of smaller remnants.
