Description

A collection of books and media, primarily comprising octavo-sized softcover trade editions and a small selection of hardcover volumes. The collection includes a two-volume set of Gilbert and Sullivan Operas, bound in publisher’s black cloth with gilt-stamped lettering to the spines. Notable modern literary titles include David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest (Abacus), Mark Z. Danielewski’s House of Leaves (Doubleday), William Gibson’s Neuromancer, Robert M. Pirsig’s Lila: An Inquiry into Morals, Jack Kerouac’s On the Road (Penguin), Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged (Penguin Modern Classics), and Ken Kesey’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Picador). Also present are Walter Moers’ The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear and Rumo & His Miraculous Adventures, Sydney Padua’s The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace & Babbage, Ted Simon’s Jupiter’s Travels, and Miguel de Cervantes’ Don Quixote (Vintage). Other volumes include The Arden Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, H. Rider Haggard’s King Solomon’s Mines (Oxford), David Gemmell’s Legend, and various non-fiction and illustrated titles such as Observer’s Architecture, Jake Spicer’s You Will Be Able to Draw by the End of This Book, Joan Binder’s Eating Without Tears, and Chica Umino’s Honey and Clover. The lot also includes a vintage software title, Operation Neptune for CD-ROM by The Learning Company, in its original cardboard packaging.

Condition report:

Book: Good. The collection generally exhibits signs of use consistent with age, including shelf wear, edge rubbing to spines, and creasing to softcover wraps. Some volumes show sunning to the spines. The hardcover Gilbert and Sullivan volumes are present without dust jackets and show rubbing to the cloth at the extremities. Internal pages appear generally clean, though some toning is evident to the paper stock of the older trade paperbacks. The Operation Neptune software box shows notable corner wear, edge rubbing, and structural crushing.
