Description

This suite features an American Brilliant Period (1876-1916) lead crystal pitcher, likely by a premier manufacturer of the era such as J. Hoare or Dorflinger, though no maker’s mark is present. The pitcher is decorated with deep mitre cuts in a pattern of large alternating palmettes and diamond-hatched medallions, featuring a flared, scalloped, and serrated rim with a thick applied handle. The collection also includes a circular rose bowl with complex geometric starburst and cross-hatched cutting, fitted with a silver-toned wire-mesh flower frog. Accompanying these is a set of seven stemmed glasses with etched scrolling borders and deeply cut radial starburst feet, alongside a clear bud vase and a hand-painted porcelain inset featuring floral and insect motifs. The glass exhibits superior clarity, high refractive index, and sharp, well-defined edges characteristic of high-quality lead crystal. Pitcher height approximately 11 inches.

Condition report:

The items are in very good condition overall. The glass is bright and clear with no evidence of internal cloudiness or mineral deposits. No significant chips, cracks, or fleabites were observed upon inspection. The metal flower frog shows minor surface tarnish consistent with age and use.
