Description

A mixed lot of functional ceramic wares and specialist literature. The ceramics include a large two-tone salt-glazed flagon with a deep tan-coloured shoulder and a cream-bodied lower section, alongside a substantial cream-glazed cylindrical storage jar or bread bin featuring a wide aperture and a small vent hole. These pieces represent traditional British industrial pottery production, likely from the late 19th or early 20th century. The accompanying library consists of various hardback and softcover volumes focused on the antiques trade and furniture restoration, including titles such as Sotheby’s Caring for Antiques, The Antiques Roadshow Quiz Book, and The Oxford History of the Biblical World. Flagon height approx. 32cm, Jar diameter approx. 22cm.

Condition report:

The stoneware exhibits surface dust, minor firing flaws, and light abrasions consistent with age and utilitarian use. An auction lot sticker is present on the cream jar. The books show general shelf wear, some fading to spines, and minor corner bumping to the covers. No significant chips or cracks are evident to the ceramic bodies.
