Lot 397:
A collection of British royal commemorative ceramics and miscellaneous tableware to include a 1981 wedding presentation mug
Description
A comprehensive collection of British royal commemorative ceramics and assorted tableware. The lot features a variety of transfer-printed porcelain mugs, many with gilded highlights, including a specific example in its original presentation box for the 1981 wedding of HRH Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. Decorative elements include royal armorial crests and commemorative inscriptions. Accompanying the commemoratives is a large white-glazed ceramic bowl with a moulded scalloped rim, several saucers featuring blue and white transfer patterns, and a clear pressed-glass tankard. The collection represents various 20th-century British manufacturers, potentially including names such as Royal Albert and Paragon. The items are housed within a green plastic crate. Crate dimensions approximately 50cm x 40cm; individual item measurements not recorded.
Condition report:
The lot is offered in varied, unsorted condition as stored. There is visible wear to the gilding on several mugs and general surface marks consistent with age and use. The boxed items appear better preserved, though the packaging shows some shelf wear and discolouration. Prospective buyers should anticipate minor chips, surface scratching, or crazing to some of the loose ceramic and glass pieces.
