German Porcelain, Half-Doll Pincushion and Hatpin Collection
Description
An early 20th-century German porcelain half-doll pincushion, featuring a hand-painted figure with a brown-moulded updo hairstyle. The figure is dressed in a blue velvet bodice integrated into a large royal blue crushed velvet pincushion base. The lot includes an extensive collection of over 30 vintage and antique hatpins featuring faceted glass, faux pearls, metal filigree, and a unique celluloid hand motif. Accompanying ephemera includes a white hardbound Book of Common Prayer with a gilt and blue cross, a yellow-bound notepad, a miniature metal-framed celluloid pocket tally, and a set of vintage plaid tally cards. Height: 15 cm.
Condition report:
The porcelain figure has sustained damage with the left hand and a portion of the lower arm missing. The velvet cushion shows light surface dust and minor wear consistent with age. The books exhibit typical shelf wear and foxing to the page edges. The hatpins show varying degrees of age-related tarnish and surface wear.
