Lot 374:
A Collection of Vintage Porcelain and Ceramic Miniatures including Occupied Japan Figurines and a Gold-Toned Metal Thimble
Description
This diverse assortment of decorative miniatures comprises approximately thirty pieces, primarily featuring hand-painted porcelain and ceramic figurines. The collection includes various human figures, animals, and folkloric characters such as clowns and gnomes, exhibiting a range of glaze finishes and bisque textures. Notable items within the lot include a small green glass vessel, two lidded ceramic containers, and a gold-toned metal cup or thimble featuring embossed decorative detailing. Based on visual characteristics and research, several pieces are consistent with mid-twentieth-century production from the Occupied Japan period, including potential makers such as Yamaka or Moriyama. No purity marks or maker’s signatures were identified during inspection; the gold-toned metal appears to be a base metal alloy. The lot is accompanied by a red display tray bearing an inventory sticker numbered 6152. Individual figurines range in height from approximately 20 mm to 85 mm.
Condition report:
The collection is in overall fair vintage condition. Visible surface wear, minor paint loss, and light abrasions are present across multiple figures, consistent with age and handling. The gold-toned metal element shows some tarnish and surface scratching. No significant structural repairs or major fractures were observed during the initial assessment.
