Lot 311:
A Collection of Three Victorian and Early 20th Century Silver-Plated Vessels including Neoclassical and Repoussé Styles
Description
A varied grouping of three silver-plated metalware items exhibiting distinct decorative periods. The collection comprises a Neoclassical-style lidded coffee or chocolate pot of tapering form, featuring an angular handle and finely engraved laurel wreath motifs. Accompanying this is a highly decorative Victorian-style teapot, characterised by its rounded body with elaborate repoussé floral and scrollwork ornamentation, topped with a distinctive bird-form lid finial. The final piece is a tall, slender trumpet-shaped vessel, likely a vase or claret jug mount, featuring a wide flared rim and a circular footed base. While no maker’s marks are immediately apparent from the primary inspection, the styles are consistent with late 19th and early 20th-century manufacturers such as Wilcox Silver Plate Co. or WMF. Dimensions: Tallest vessel approximately 25 cm height, Coffee pot approximately 22 cm height, Teapot approximately 18 cm height.
Condition report:
All items exhibit significant surface tarnishing and oxidisation consistent with age. There are minor surface scratches and small indentations present throughout. The pieces show signs of regular use but remain structurally sound. No significant repairs or losses are evident.
