Quoizel Abigail Adams Collection Hurricane Table Lamp, Floral Opaque Glass, circa 1973
Description
This elegant table lamp is a fine example from the Abigail Adams collection by Quoizel, dating to approximately 1973. Designed in the traditional “Gone with the Wind” or hurricane style, the piece is constructed from opaque white milk glass globes decorated with a repetitive floral pattern featuring roses and scrolling motifs in yellow, blue, and brown tones. The floral bands are bordered by thin terracotta-coloured horizontal stripes. The upper shade is distinguished by a ruffled “pie crust” rim and houses a clear glass hurricane chimney. The lamp features brass-finished metal hardware and is supported by an ornate, cast-metal scrolling base with a weathered patina. While no permanent manufacturer marks are visible, the design is characterised by the Quoizel Abigail Adams line, and a small adhesive label with the handwritten numbers 7705 and T28 is present on the neck. This style typically features a 3-way switch allowing for the illumination of the top shade, the base, or both components simultaneously. Height: approximately 53 cm (21 inches).
Condition report:
The item is in good vintage condition. The glass components, including both globes and the internal chimney, are free from chips, cracks, or significant scratches. The metal hardware and cast base exhibit typical age-related wear and a natural patina consistent with a piece of this era. The lamp appears to retain its original parts and has not been modified.
