A Collection of Ten Chinese and Japanese Cloisonné Enamel Miniature Objects
Description
A comprehensive collection of ten decorative cloisonné enamel objects, primarily of Chinese and Japanese influence. The group comprises a circular dish featuring a bird and peony motif against a black ground, a miniature teapot decorated with floral sprays, a rectangular green-ground box with a dragon motif, an egg-shaped ornament with a blue and gold scale pattern, a floral snuff bottle, a heart-shaped trinket box, a miniature baluster vase, and three lidded jars of varying forms with white, light blue, and black grounds. Each piece is constructed using traditional wire-work techniques on a brass or copper alloy base, finished with vibrant vitreous enamels in a variety of traditional patterns. These items represent 20th-century decorative export ware, showcasing classic motifs such as the famille noire style and auspicious floral symbols. Circular dish measures approximately 11cm in diameter; teapot measures approximately 8cm in length.
Condition report:
The collection is presented in good overall condition, showing light surface wear and minor oxidisation to the exposed metal rims and bases consistent with age and handling. The enamel remains largely intact across all pieces with no significant chips, cracks, or losses observed. All lids are present and fit securely.
