SylvaC Model 1126 Art Deco Ceramic Budgerigar Wall Pocket, England, c.1930s
Description
A vintage SylvaC ceramic wall pocket, model number 1126, manufactured by Shaw and Copestake in England. This Art Deco era piece features a budgerigar (parakeet) finished in a blue and white glaze with an orange beak, perched on a cream-coloured, stylised fan-shaped base. The reverse is embossed with the SYLVAC brand name, MADE IN ENGLAND, and the model number 1126. The design includes a pre-moulded hole for wall hanging. This item represents a popular mid-century decorative motif in British pottery. Dimensions: Approximately 19 cm in height and 14 cm in width.
Condition report:
The piece exhibits extensive fine crazing throughout the glaze, which is typical for earthenware of this period. There is a visible hairline crack on the reverse extending from the hanging aperture. Minor surface soiling is present. The item retains an inventory sticker (6182) on the front and a handwritten label (SYLVAC C02.) on the reverse.
