Lot 286:
A Vintage Russian Nickel-Plated Brass Samovar
Description
A vintage Russian-style samovar of traditional urn form, constructed from nickel-plated brass. The vessel features a flared chimney top with pierced decorative vents, designed for heat dissipation. It is equipped with two scrolled side handles and a front-mounted spigot tap, all featuring black turned grips, likely ebonised wood. The body is supported by a tiered square pedestal base resting on four out-swept feet. This piece reflects the classic metalware designs common to the Tula region of Russia, dating from the late 19th to the mid-20th century. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are visible on the exterior. Height: approximately 17 inches (43 cm).
Condition report:
The samovar is in good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. The nickel-plated surface shows light tarnishing, scattered surface scratches, and a few minor dings to the body. The turned grips are secure and intact. The interior has not been tested for water tightness or functionality.
