Oriental, PT. 11121, Miniature Piano Musical Smoking Set, c. 1950s
Description
A vintage miniature grand piano-form musical jewellery or smoking box manufactured by Oriental, model reference PT. 11121. The exterior is constructed with a black Bakelite or lacquered finish, featuring intricate silver-toned etched floral and scrolling vine patterns across the lid and perimeter. The hinged lid opens to reveal a mirrored underside and an interior compartment with a reflective metal base plate, including a rectangular inset designed for a cigarette lighter or small keepsakes. The piece is supported by four small, turned metal legs. Dimensions: approximately 14 cm in length.
Condition report:
The item is in fair to good vintage condition. The exterior shows light surface wear and accumulated dust, though the engraved detailing remains crisp. The interior mirror is intact. The metal base plate exhibits significant surface scratching and oxidation consistent with age and use. The musical mechanism has not been tested for functionality and no winding key is present.
