Description

A late Victorian-style ceramic wash pitcher and basin set, likely of English or Continental origin, dating to the late 19th century. The set is crafted from a white-bodied ceramic, such as ironstone or semi-porcelain, featuring ornate moulded Rococo Revival scrollwork and scalloped rims. The decoration consists of teal-blue floral transfer-ware motifs, further enhanced by hand-applied teal gradient shading and extensive gilt highlights throughout the relief details. The pitcher is designed with a broad, shaped spout and a heavily scrolled handle. While no manufacturer’s hallmarks are immediately visible from the primary perspective, the aesthetic is consistent with late Victorian production from notable factories such as Victoria Carlsbad or various Staffordshire potteries. Pitcher height: approximately 30 cm. Basin diameter: approximately 38 cm.

Condition report:

The set is in good overall condition, commensurate with age. There is minor rubbing to the gilded accents, particularly on the rims and handle. No chips, cracks, or restorations are evident upon visual inspection.
