Lot 243:
Polished Wood Crook Handle, Decorative Floral Parasol, Mid-20th Century
Description
The handle is crafted from a light-toned, polished wood in a traditional shepherd’s crook style, transitioning seamlessly into a matching wooden shaft. There are no visible hallmarks or maker’s marks on the wooden or metallic components. The canopy is composed of a lime-green fabric, embellished with a vibrant floral rose pattern in shades of orange and red, bordered by a distinctive black-and-white polka-dot ribbon trim. The piece is finished with a metallic alloy ferrule at the tip. This is a standard manual-opening decorative parasol with no hidden system features or concealed compartments. Length: 88 cm.
Condition report:
The wooden handle and shaft show minor surface scuffing and light wear consistent with age; a small adhesive auction lot tag is present on the upper shaft. The metallic ferrule exhibits a natural patina and some tarnish. The canopy is in fair to good condition, showing signs of age including light staining and minor areas of discolouration. The decorative trim remains largely intact with very light fraying at the edges. The mechanical operation of the frame has not been tested.
