Unbranded, Collection of Antique Musical Instrument Spares and Repairs, Bone and Mother-of-Pearl Components, Late 19th to Early 20th Century
Description
A comprehensive luthier’s or restorer’s hoard comprising a diverse assortment of antique and vintage components, primarily intended for the repair of musical instruments, fans, and small decorative objects. The collection is predominantly composed of natural materials including bovine bone, mother-of-pearl, celluloid, and various hardwoods. Key elements include numerous flat bone sections suitable for use as piano key overlays, nuts, or saddles; decorative mother-of-pearl rings and inlays; and several turned bone finials. The lot also features a disassembled folding fan with carved guards, a selection of vintage dominoes with dark wood backings, various beadwork, and a small red box containing intricate carved bone fragments and buttons. These items represent a significant resource of period-correct materials for the conservation of Victorian and Edwardian era collectibles. Condition report:
Offered strictly as a spares and repairs lot. The items exhibit varying degrees of age-related wear, including heavy yellowing, surface grime, and a natural aged patina.
