Lot 106:
Late Victorian Style English Pine Two-over-Two Chest of Drawers
Description
A late 19th to early 20th-century English country style chest of drawers, traditionally constructed from solid pine with a warm, honey-coloured finish. This small-scale piece features a classic configuration of two short drawers over two long drawers, each drawer front accented with applied decorative moulding and fitted with turned wooden knob handles. The chest is raised on a distinctive scalloped plinth base, reflecting a provincial aesthetic. The timber displays the characteristic knotty grain associated with Scots pine or fir. No maker’s marks or provenance labels are present. Dimensions: Not provided.
Condition report:
The chest is presented in good structural condition with solid joinery. The exterior surfaces show minor signs of wear, including light scratches and small scuffs to the top and side panels, consistent with domestic use and age. The drawers function correctly and the wooden knobs are securely attached. There are no visible signs of woodworm or major restoration.
