Schuco, Somersaulting Monkey and Pick-Pick Bird Clockwork Toys, Mohair-covered Metal, Mid-20th Century
Description
This lot comprises two vintage clockwork toys produced by the German manufacturer Schuco, dating to the mid-20th century. The first item is a somersaulting monkey featuring a felt and mohair-covered metal frame, wearing green felt shorts and a small pink ribbon bow. The second item is a Pick-Pick hopping bird with a flocked or short-pile mohair-covered metal body and wire legs. Both toys contain internal clockwork mechanisms designed to simulate movement. The lot includes one original Schuco-branded wind-up key. No original boxes are present.
Condition report:
The monkey displays typical age-related wear, including minor fading and light soiling to the felt; the figure appears complete. The bird is in fair to good condition, showing noticeable thinning to the orange and brown flocking and some oxidisation to the metal wire legs. The clockwork mechanisms for both items are currently untested. No original boxes are included.
