Description
A 19th-century rosewood sewing box featuring brass scrollwork inlay and mother-of-pearl corner accents. The lid is centered with an oval hand-painted medallion depicting a landscape with architectural ruins. The front of the box is decorated with a mother-of-pearl foliate inlay surrounding the keyhole. The interior lid is lined with cream-colored pleated fabric in a sunburst pattern. The main compartment contains a removable multi-sectioned tray. Included is an assortment of vintage sewing notions and haberdashery, featuring cards of Newey’s buttons, Koh-I-Noor snap fasteners, spools of thread, and a hair comb.
