A Pair of Goebel Hummel Figural Porcelain Items
Description
This lot contains a pair of figural polychrome-painted porcelain items attributed to Goebel (Hummel). The items are characteristic of the sentimental style popular in the mid-20th century. The first item is a figural candle holder designed as a tree stump, featuring applied pink floral elements and a seated girl at the base holding a basket. A brass insert for a candle socket is present at the top of the stump. The base of this item features visible handwritten black markings 6182 and Goebel W. Germany. The second item is a figurine depicting a standing girl pulling a smaller child seated in a white sled or sleigh. Both pieces display blue manufacturer marks (Goebel backstamps) on their undersides.
