A Late Victorian or Edwardian Blue Velvet Upholstered Footstool
Description
A single antique footstool or low occasional stool, likely dating to the late Victorian or Edwardian period. The piece is constructed from dark-stained wood with a glossy finish. It features an upholstered top with a serpentine edge, covered in deep sapphire blue velvet. The upholstery is finished with a silver or light gray braided gimp cord trim applied along the border. The wooden apron below the cushion displays pierced or carved vertical detailing. The stool stands on four square tapering legs secured by a lower X-stretcher, which incorporates a small central shelf platform. A rectangular white inventory sticker bearing the numbers 9268 is affixed to the apron near one leg.
