A Finnigan's Striped Dome-Top Steamer Trunk
Description
An antique dome-top steamer trunk manufactured by Finnigan’s of Manchester, constructed primarily of wood and reinforced with heavy iron or steel strapping and hardware. The exterior features alternating vertical bands of ribbed metal sheeting and wood or leather slats, secured by metal studs. The trunk includes large metal handle loops on the sides and a central clasp mechanism. The interior is lined with wood and decorative paper borders. A central adhesive paper label is present inside the lid, reading “FINNIGAN’S,” and advertising “DRESS BASKETS” and “STATE ROOM TRUNKS,” listing the addresses “95 DEANSGATE & 115, MARKET ST. MANCHESTER.”
