A Victorian Upholstered Balloon Back Parlor Chair
Description
A single upholstered parlor or slipper chair attributed to the 19th century, consistent with Victorian or Louis Philippe revival styles. The chair features a high, rounded balloon back and a deep, low seat cushion. The upholstery is covered in a plush textile of salmon-orange hue. The exposed frame is constructed of dark, polished wood, likely walnut or mahogany, featuring scrolling arm supports and four cabriole legs terminating in scrolled feet. The perimeter of the upholstery is accented by continuous lines of decorative metal nail head tacking. A small white rectangular tag bearing the visible marking 1262 is affixed to the top crest rail of the back.
