Antique Cast Iron Little Joe Mechanical Bank
Description
A single cast iron mechanical bank, identified by market consensus as the “Little Joe Bank” pattern, typically associated with early 20th-century American manufacture, possibly by John Harper or J. & E. Stevens. The bank is constructed as a bust of a figural caricature with exaggerated features. The figure is painted black with prominent red lips and wears a red jacket and a yellow bow tie. The mechanism is designed to accept a coin placed in the small dish/tray held by the figure’s hand. The piece retains remnants of its original polychrome painted finish. A white inventory sticker bearing the number 6182 is affixed to the right side of the jacket.
