Lot 351:
A Collection of Antique and Vintage Decorative Tins and Two Wooden Boxes
Description
A collection of approximately two dozen antique and vintage decorative tins, predominantly metal, accompanied by two dark wooden boxes. The metal tins display a wide variety of shapes, including rectangular, square, round, oval, scalloped, a prominent yellow truck-shaped tin, a house-shaped tin, and a book-shaped tin. Decorations feature an array of lithographed imagery such as royal portraits (one tin depicting Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip), children, animals (bears, cats, budgies), landscapes, and floral patterns, suggesting a stylistic range from late Victorian/Edwardian to mid-20th century. Visible text includes “W.M. MORRISON PROVISIONS LTD. EST 1899,” “JAMES MCLEOD & SON, ABERDEEN SCOTLAND, 4854” on the yellow truck tin, “ONE TWO THREE ALL ALIVE” on a round orange tin, “FARRAR’S” on a small blue tin, and “Heinrich Hieber” (German: Heinrich Hieber, a confectioner) on a brown truck-shaped tin.
