Lot 241:
A Collection of 14 Assorted Coins, Including Ottoman Empire and British Issues
Description
A collection of 14 assorted coins, comprising nine Ottoman Empire copper/bronze issues and five British silver-colored coins. The nine copper or bronze-colored coins vary in size and display significant wear and dark patination; one large example exhibits prominent green verdigris, and several show extremely indistinct features, though some appear to bear oriental characters or patterns, consistent with Ottoman Empire coinage. The five silver-colored coins include four small pieces depicting a crowned numeral “3” on their reverse, with visible dates including “1880” and “1888”, indicating British Threepence or Maundy issues. The fifth silver-colored coin is a larger British Crown dated “1920”, featuring the Royal Arms and partial legend “FID. DEF. IND. IMP. ONE CROWN” on its reverse.
