Lot 208:
A Collection of Folk Art and Rustic Wooden Decorative Items, Late 19th to Mid-20th Century
Description
A diverse collection of primarily wooden decorative and functional items, exhibiting a folk art and rustic aesthetic. The lot includes a large, seated carved wooden bear figure and a smaller carved wooden dog with a painted green collar and red bow. Also present is a dark stained, turned and carved wooden lidded urn featuring a grape and leaf motif, and a dark wooden scalloped tray carved with a radial pattern. Complementing these are a long, boat-shaped wooden weaving shuttle, a small yellow-stained wooden circular box, a wooden book cover painted with a festive wreath, and a small, brightly painted wooden Native American chief’s head with a feathered headdress. A small, dark-framed picture or mirror with a gilded inner border is also included. The collection appears to be late 19th to mid-20th century in style, with materials consisting almost entirely of various woods. No discernable text or maker’s marks are visible.
