Lot 63:
A Collection of Portmeirion Botanic Garden Ceramic Tableware and Decorative Items
Description
A collection of Portmeirion ‘Botanic Garden’ ceramic tableware and decorative items, comprising approximately twelve pieces. The glazed ceramic items are predominantly white with intricate, colorful botanical illustrations of flowers, foliage, butterflies, and dragonflies. The assortment includes a large serving bowl, a lidded tureen with handles, a lidded serving dish, four cylindrical storage canisters of various sizes fitted with natural wood lids, a smaller lidded jar, and two decorative vases. Many of the botanical motifs are accompanied by their scientific names, such as `Erica Cinerea`, `Campanula rotundifolia`, `Hydrangea serrata`, `Fuchsia magellanica`, `Pyrus malus`, `Papaver orientale`, `Aquilegia vulgaris`, `Lathyrus odoratus`, `Sedum spectabile`, `Iris sibirica`, `Chrysanthemum leucanthemum`, and `Rosa canina`. A green band on one small canister’s lid explicitly reads “BOTANIC GARDEN”. The overall style is consistent with a naturalistic, late 20th to early 21st-century production.
