Three Chaffers Liverpool Porcelain Coffee Cups, circa 1758-1760
Description
A set of three Chaffers Liverpool porcelain coffee cups, circa 1758-1760. Each handled cup is of glazed porcelain, decorated in a polychrome and gilt style. The white ground features prominent orange-gold geometric panels framing a stylized red-gold chrysanthemum (kiku mon) motif, complemented by floral sprays in red, green, blue, and gold. A red outline of the chrysanthemum motif is also visible on the interior base of each cup. One cup displays faint, illegible vertical Japanese characters on its exterior body. Another cup has a ‘KING 6 COLLECTION’ sticker on its base.
