Description
An Edwardian Doulton Lambeth stoneware whisky jug for James Burrough Ltd., featuring a pear-shaped body with a single handle. The vessel is decorated with a two-tone glaze, comprising a mottled brown/tan on the upper section and a deep cobalt blue on the lower. The jug is accompanied by a separate cork and ceramic stopper. The base is impressed with a “ROYAL DOULTON / ENGLAND / LAMBETH” mark featuring a lion, alongside “JAMES BURROUGH Ltd / LAMBETH S.E. / 1071” and the inscription “DISTILLERS OF THE CHOICEST LIQUEURS SINCE 1820”. A handwritten “mw” or “nw” mark is also visible on the base. The stopper’s ceramic top is marked “REG’D DESIGN” and partially “DIST POND”.
Approximately 7.5 to 8 inches (19-20 cm) tall.
