Lot 12:
A Doulton Lambeth Sterling Silver and Stoneware Match Holder
Description
A composite desk accessory featuring a rounded, glazed stoneware base with a central, square-mouthed sterling silver fitting and two circular silver-rimmed openings. The ceramic is decorated in raised relief with stylized floral motifs in blue, orange, and white against a dark teal background, indicative of a late Victorian or early 20th-century aesthetic. Visible hallmarks on the silver fitting include a lion passant. The unglazed base of the ceramic bears an impressed circular mark with “ENGLAND” and a crown device, the impressed numbers “7325”, and a handwritten inscription “Ahle”.
