A Late Victorian English Sterling Silver Topped Cut Crystal Scent Bottle, Birmingham 1892/1917
Description
This antique English sterling silver topped cut crystal scent bottle features a faceted clear crystal body with an intricate diamond-cut pattern. It is fitted with a sterling silver collar and a domed, hinged silver lid, which displays an engraved or embossed classical figure. The interior of the lid retains its original gilt finish. The silver collar bears clear hallmarks, including the lion passant for sterling silver, an anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and a date letter ‘S’, indicating a likely production date of 1892 or 1917. The bottle is complete with an internal clear glass or quartz spherical stopper.
