Description
A Japanese Antique Wooden Netsuke depicting Daruma, dating to the Taisho era (1912-1926). This small, ovoid object is carved from a dark, dense wood or organic material, possibly a large nut or seed. One side features a stylized carving of an elderly man’s face with a prominent forehead, deeply carved beard, and mustache, accented by two distinct round, light-colored inlaid eyes. The reverse side is deeply carved with the character ‘福’ (fú), which translates to ‘good fortune,’ ‘blessing,’ or ‘happiness.’ Two small holes are visible on the top of the object.
