A Chinese Blue and White 'Bamboo and Peony' Dish, from the Tek Sing Shipwreck, circa 1822
Description
A Chinese blue and white ‘Bamboo and Peony’ dish, salvaged from the Tek Sing shipwreck, circa 1822. This small porcelain dish features underglaze decoration of bamboo and peony motifs. The underside bears an underglaze blue mark, likely Chinese characters, alongside a “NAGEL AUKTIONS” stamp and a “TEK SING TREASURE” stamp with a ship logo. A paper inventory sticker is affixed, bearing “20A3387178 9663 24”. An accompanying certificate of authenticity confirms its origin from the Tek Sing shipwreck, identified as “TS 80”, salvaged by Mike Hatcher, and sold by Nagel Auctions in November 2000.
