A 19th Century Imari Style Porcelain Plate
Description
A 19th Century Imari style porcelain plate, featuring a scalloped edge and vibrant polychrome decoration. The obverse displays a complex, multi-paneled design primarily in deep blue, iron red, gold, green, and white. Key decorative elements include two kimono-clad figures on a red ground, a central cartouche with stylized floral motifs, and segments displaying various patterned fans and numerous flying gold birds against a dark blue ground. The reverse is glazed white with underglaze blue stylized motifs around the scalloped rim and a central foot rim. A small reddish-brown mark is present on the reverse base. No discernible maker’s marks or text are visible.
