Nine Silver Thimbles, including cased examples by Walter Mannings, Liverpool
Description
A collection of nine silver thimbles, five presented within individual hinged cases and four displayed loose. The thimbles exhibit a variety of decorative styles, including intricate dimpling on the crowns, and chased or embossed patterns such as floral motifs, geometric designs, and scrollwork. One thimble housed in a case features a distinct band, possibly of turquoise-colored enamel, around its rim. The five presentation cases are constructed from materials such as leatherette and cardboard, lined with fabric including velvet or satin in blue and cream tones. Visible text on the lid of the far-left case reads “Walter Mannings Thimbles, 24, County Road, LIVERPOOL, W.F. & S.”
