Lot 57:
A Chinese Famille Verte Porcelain Covered Jar, 19th Century
Description
A large, lidded porcelain vessel, commonly referred to as a ginger or temple jar, displaying a Chinese style. The vessel and its domed lid with a pointed finial are intricately decorated with a dark green key-fret pattern serving as the ground, punctuated by multiple polychrome enamel reserves. The main body features large, lobed panels depicting detailed landscape scenes with mountains, trees, and architectural elements in a Famille Verte palette. Smaller cloud-shaped reserves on the shoulder and lid showcase various floral and bird motifs. The base bears a blue underglaze four-character reign mark within a double oval, reading 康熙年製 (Kāngxī Nián Zhì), which translates to “Made in the Kangxi reign.”
