A Collection of Decorative Plates, including Coalport Christmas Issues
Description
A collection of seven decorative plates. This lot includes three white porcelain plates featuring polychrome festive or historical Christmas scenes, marked “Christmas 1982,” “Christmas 1981,” and “Christmas 1979,” consistent with late 20th-century collectible issues by Coalport. Also present is one light blue ceramic plate, resembling jasperware, with white bas-relief classical figures and foliage around the rim. Another plate displays a traditional polychrome landscape painting, likely a transfer print. A sixth plate presents a polychrome illustration of an elderly man and a young boy playing an accordion, signed “Norman Rockwell.” The seventh plate is white with a prominent black and gold rim, enclosing a central design of two stylized peacocks and blossoming branches in metallic gold and muted colors, suggesting an Art Deco or East Asian influence.
