Lot 152:
Lenzkirch German Bracket Clock, Late 19th Century
Description
A Lenzkirch German bracket clock, late 19th century. This heavily carved, dark wood mantel or table clock is crafted in a Renaissance Revival or Baroque Revival style. The architectural case features a domed pediment with a shell motif and distinctive ‘shingled’ carving. The front displays fluted columns adorned with caryatid-like female busts, framing a square brass-faced dial. The dial has a silvered chapter ring with black Roman numerals and ornate pierced hands, surrounded by gilt-brass spandrels depicting grotesque masks and foliate scrolls. The visible brass movement in the rear confirms a pendulum escapement. A winding key is present.
