Description
A Moorcroft Pottery ‘Lamia’ vase, crafted from ceramic with a gently swelling ovoid body, a short tapered neck, and a slightly everted rim, resting on a footed base. The surface features a tubelined, polychrome decoration depicting a naturalistic aquatic scene with dark green cattail leaves and brown cattails on the upper body, transitioning to white water lilies, lily pads, and other stylized foliage in shades of green, blue, and teal towards the dark blue base, all set against a cream-colored ground. The design style reflects Arts and Crafts or Art Nouveau influences. The base exhibits impressed and painted marks including “MOORCROFT,” “MADE IN ENGLAND,” a “G” stamp, a stylized factory mark, the painted initials “LA” in green, and a red painted “C5.”
